Can You Drink Too Much Liquid?

Posted on 24th December 2009 by joestone1975 in Uncategorized - Tags:

Can You consume a lot of Water? I want to say in the past few years investigation have displayed that many of us do not consume too water for good health. Along with basic healthy eating recommendations, most health instigators have motivated us all to consume more water.

The slogan has been strong – keep off deprivation of liquid. However,my friends there is a various story emerging, more than usual amongst men and women who do sports. According to investigators almost as many exercisers are putting their health at risk by over-getting water as drinking too little. Drinking water at every possibility are able to occasion serious challenges, like hyponatraemia or liquid intoxication. When the water concentration of the blood rises, the salt content is diminish.

Consequently the amount of salt available to body tissues decreases, which can lead to problems with heart features. Consequently the quantity of salt available to body tissues decreases, which can lead to problems with function. I've noticed initial symptoms of over-hydration include . However these symptoms are too amalgamated with dehydration – so it's significant to be aware of how much you are getting. Is there motive for alarm? The British Dietetic Association directives state that an average adult must consume 2.5 litres of liquid per day. This use needs to be grow during periods of hot weather or during and after periods of physical activity.

Public Health

Posted on 21st December 2009 by joestone1975 in Uncategorized - Tags:

Popeye's is NOT public health by heatherleila

Debate about the public health care option in the Health Care Reform bill is hot and heavy but, for the most part, it leaves out the human factor. Those on Capitol Hill and other high-powered pundits have no idea what health insurance really means to the “common man”. Facts and figures are fine, but they don't tell the whole story. Statistics can be manipulated to show that the sun is cold and the sky is pink-and-purple polka-dotted, but that doesn't make it so.

Anyone who is or has been uninsured for a prolonged period of time, especially if they have ongoing health issues, can tell you that some form of universal health care is vital. The working poor make too much for public assistance but live from week to week or even day to day. Many of these people work for companies who either do not provide medical coverage but the cost is prohibitive and the employee has to choose between coverage and rent.

I speak from experience on health care accessibility. I've had jobs with excellent medical coverage and little cost for the premiums. I've paid half of my income from a 30-hour-a-week job for medical insurance and been happy I was doing so because it covered the medical bills when my husband had a heart attack. On the flip side, most of my adult life I've had little or no medical coverage and did not qualify for any of the public programs like Medicaid because I earned a little too much. In other words, I WAS the working poor. I've held positions where medical coverage was available, but didn't really cover anything. I've been offered excellent coverage options that I couldn't take advantage of because of cost. I've also nearly died due to not having ongoing and consistent access to proper medical care.

How can you expect a person to be a productive member of society if they do not have access to care when they need it? How can you accept that so many people in our country live in fear of illness? I'm not talking about catastropic illness or the high cost of medical care. I mean the simple ability to visit a doctor's office for basic care. I'm referring to the ability to walk into a doctor's office without cash in hand for treatment by a medical professional. I'm talking about not having to wait for an illness to progresses to the point where an ER visit is necessary. I'm talking about catching the flu, missing two weeks of work, and not being able to pay rent or buy groceries because of loss of income.

I know its an unpopular idea, but a base system similar to Canada's would be a lot better for the majority of Americans than the current system. Make it accesible to everyone then, instead of fining people for not having medical coverage, make it financially beneficial for the employers to provide GOOD medica coverage? Why not give those who DO have decent coverage a tax credit based on what they pay for insurance, similar to deductions for out-of-pocket medical costs?

I, for one, would be thrilled with such a system. I'm sure a large portion of the population would agree. Unfortunately, the people with the “big voices” like congressmen and those who make money off of the current system mostly care about the bottom line and not the human condition. Maybe those of us who would be affected the most should band together and make our voices heard. Heaven knows “we” outnumber “them”.

5 easy ways to start a diet

Posted on 17th December 2009 by joestone1975 in Uncategorized - Tags:

My dear readers I just used the word “diet” so youwould a aware to what I was say, however honestly, that should be a swear word. What do you say, “5 different methods to get food to serve you and your goals?” I always consider that the eating needs to be unraveled easy and slowly so that our approach is simple but true to our lives.

Number 1 Drink a lot of water. In accord to investigations, this would ignore twenty percent of our caloric use and help all of our body features run more smoothly.

2. Reduce your portions I'm not even going to tell you what to eat and not eat. I'm just saying if you are having that sub at lunch cut half. We eat a lot, so just eat until you are not hungry. It's difficult.

Number 3. Eat your breakfast. You should have a seventy percent chance of overeating throughout a day if you skip breakfast.

Number four. Write on the paper. This will help you see clear what you consume and when. You will even be able to see patterns of grabbing food at bad factors, etc. Journaling just makes you aware and in charge of your food–not the other way around.

Number five. If you can avoid it, you shouldn't eat after 7 p.m.

Health Benefits

Massage therapy has been used as a therapeutic measure for generations, and across cultures around the world. Although different types of massage techniques are designed to target specific areas, dysfunctions, and promote natural healing processes, there are some distinctive benefits that can be received from regular massage. Physical benefits range from improved circulation, lower stress levels, and increased flexibility in tense muscles. Mental benefits include a calm mind, increased awareness, better focus and concentration, and increased alertness. Here are the top ten physical and mental health benefits of massage.

1. Promotes deeper breathing
-deep breathing is vital to ensure that oxygen circulates easily throughout your body, and encourages healing and growth in the process. Decreased oxygen circulation results in headaches, tension aches, and random muscle pain that can accumulate into a significant problem over time. By enhancing your oxygen intake, you will naturally promote the release of toxins and negative energy within the body.

2. Improves posture
-although massage should never be used as a replacement for a chiropractic diagnosis, posture can slowly and naturally improve as the spine and muscles around the spine become more flexible and supple. Improved posture also aids in breathing and less tension throughout the body.

3. Improves circulation
-an improvement in both blood and lymph circulation helps your body gain strength and maximizes your energy level. Especially during the winter months when circulation and metabolisms may be slower, massage can help in removing toxins in the blood and encouraging fresh energy to circulate easily. Efficient circulation also helps in muscle recovery, growth, and promotes the natural healing process.

4. Enhances skin tone and skin health
-when using high-quality oils and creams, massage therapists can significantly improve the tone and health of your skin after just a few massage sessions. Skin cells are revitalized, moisturized, and replenished naturally. Choose Vitamin E and natural grapeseed oil bases for maximum benefits.

5. Increases and promotes joint flexibility
-repetitive stress or overused joints can stunt growth and create problems later. Massage helps to relieve stored tension and encourages flexibility of the joints after rest. Any soreness experienced after a massage can be indication that these are tension spots for you, and focusing on these areas on your next massage will increase joint recovery. There are even some special oil formulations to target joints, so do check with your massage therapist beforehand to discuss options.

6. Enhances a calm mind
-encouraging a calm mind creates an avenue for creativity; it is during these times that our minds are most conducive to creative thinking, developing plans, organizing thoughts, and reducing stressful thoughts. Massage can encourage this state of mind by relaxing the entire body.

7. Reduces anxiety
-as a natural deep relaxant, a successful massage can significantly reduce anxiety. Usually, anxiety is stored in some key areas of the body; the lower back, shoulders, abdomen, and neck. By relieving these areas of tension, the mind can ‘let go’ of anxiety and experience a light, almost freeing sensation.

8. Increases self-awareness
-the mind-body connection is often overlooked in today’s fast-paced society. From the minute you wake up, to the moment you go to bed, it is easy to slip into ‘mind-only’ mode. When you re-establish the connection with your body, you will experience greater ease of movement, a more centered feeling, and an enhanced feeling of well-being.

9. Promotes mental alertness
-although a massage can bring you into a state of deep relaxation, this is also a state of heightened mental alertness. Your mind is relaxed and calm, but acutely aware and in this state, capable of solving even the toughest problems!

10. Increases peace of mind
-with your ability to feel relaxed and naturally aware, peace of mind becomes a necessary result. Peace of mind can be defined as a sense of calm well-being and just feeling good naturally.

11. Satisfies need for human touch
-as human beings, we all need to feel the touch of another human being. This can range from a simple hug, handshake, or a nurturing touch. A massage encourages this type of connection and increases your appreciation for this human need.

These are just the top ten benefits of regular massage. Check with your local spa or individual massage therapist to define what you ned, and what your body will most benefit from. During different times, or stages of your life, you may need a specific treatment or an individual recommendation. Try various approaches and see what works best for you. Alternative bodywork sessions may also include Reiki, an energy-focused consultation; Chakra-balancing massage, an Eastern approach to energy balance and release of anxiety; or a ‘traditional’ deep therapeutic massage targeting a specific area.

Number five. Get Frozen Veggies. I mostly buy frozen veggies: Not a lot of time to cook You don't waste money if not eaten in time
